Research Project

GLOBAL GOVERNANCE OF SPACE RESOURCES

The ongoing project aims to study global governance mechanisms related to space resources and related activities. The exploration of space resources, present in celestial bodies, becomes increasingly more viable, which drives the international community to discuss governance mechanisms for systematizing such activities, in order to meet diffuse interests and avoid international controversies. Taking as the primordial hypothesis of this research the relevance of interdisciplinary studies aimed at tackling the problem in question, based on principles of Public International Law regarding the regulation of activities related to space resources, it is proposed, based on a wide study on the theme, the discussion of global governance initiatives that ensure peaceful and sustainable exploitation of special resources.

GLOBAL LAW IN A CONTEXT OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

The main objective of this research project is to know and identify the new contexts and regulatory and judicial challenges provided by international relations in the space and on the Internet.

In particular, assess the applicability of law on a global scale to solve the complex problems in these scenarios. Likewise, verifying and analyzing the level of solutions currently presented in international treaties and courts. In the same order of ideas, based on the results achieved, from the general objective and the specific objectives, present international legal solutions. In this sense, the project seeks to envision the benefits resulting from the global judicialization of international conflicts, with an adequate organization, which would enable greater efficiency in the search for justice and global legal security in the space and digital environment.

Therefore, it aims to investigate the use of new technologies and the promotion of an adequate legal regime, aimed at spatial sustainability, promoting scientific production that contributes to greater reflection and greater knowledge of access to the right to development, training professionals (and students ) trained to teach and research in this regard.
